Objective To observe the effect of bednets impregnated with cyfluthrin on control of malaria vectors of Anopheles. W Methods In malaria outbreak epidemic spot, the resident’s bednets were impregnated with 12.5% flowable formulation cyfluthrin in the dose of 15 mg/m 2 in residential area. Mosquitoes were captured at a fixed time and place. The densities of Anopheles were measured in the bednets at morning, outdoor with human bait and in pigsty respectively. The situation of malaria epidemic was understood by investigating malaria history. W Results Comparing with that of before treatment, the densities of Anopheles anthropophagus and An. sinensis in bednets were continuously decreased by 100.00% and 99.93% in 2 years after treatment. At the years of treatment, 2 kinds of Anopheles could be captured in bednets un impregnated and the densities of An. anthropophagus measured by both outdoor with human bait and in pigsty were increased. But comparing with Anopheles, the ratio of An. anthropophagus captured outdoor with human bait was declined apparently. An. anthropophagus could not be captured by both methods next year of the treatment. The density of An. sinensis was continuously maintained in high level after treatment. It showed that it was not good enough to decrease the population quantity of An. sinensis by impregnated bednets. Conclusion The density of An. anthropophagus was declined obviously and the situation of malaria outbreak epidemic was controlled after impregnated bednets with cyfluthrin once.
