长沙开埠与湖南绅民阻止贝纳赐入城

Making a commercial port in Changsha and gentleman and people of Hunan prevent Bei Naci in city

1904年,湖南省政府与日本签订条约,将长沙辟为通商口岸,英国政府拒不承认这一章程,支持商人贝纳赐入城经商,引起长沙绅民的反对。湖南政府力图和平解决这一事件,但失败了。长沙绅民在王先谦等的领导下,一方面向湖南政府施加压力,另一方面采取种种措施抵制贝纳赐的经商活动,迫使贝纳赐不得不迁出城外。

Hunan government signed a contract with Japan in 1904. According to this contract, Changsha was opened the trading port.The English government disagreed this contract, supported Bei Naci to go into business in city.The acts met with objecting of gentleman and people of Hunan. Hunan government attempted to settle it with peaceful method, but the gouerment failed.Gentleman and people of Changsha led by the Wang Xianqian, on the one hand, exerted pressure to Hunan government, on the other hand take every method to resist Bei Naci's business activity.In this case, Bei Naci had to move out city.
