全面提高英语教学质量与水平的商榷

摘要 如何提高英语教学的综合质量与水平 ?当务之急是如何取得共识 :把以单词、单句为基础的英语教学提高一个层次———在“在炼意 (谋篇 )中炼词、炼句”上来。即根据全文的统一性、连贯性、轻重有别的基本原则来炼词、炼句。只有这样才能少走弯路 ,及时、有效地转换所学的语言知识成为具有听、说、读、写的综合能力的交流工具。 To be considerate of the heretofore unbalanced and unseemly development of English teaching in China, this article stresses the study of English rhetoric as an imperative course that paves the way for English composition. That is the study of the choice of words and manipulation of sentence structure as required for general principles of Unity, Coherence and Emphasis in composition. Only by doing so can we knowingly and effectively transfer linguistic competence to communicative competence.
