Inheriting and Developing:A Tentative Study of Zhang Jiuling and Qu Yuan

屈原以高尚的人格形象与杰出的诗歌成就,深深影响、感召着后代文人。初盛唐的张九龄由于人格理想、自身遭遇与屈原极为相似,在作人、作文等方面都表现出对屈原明显的继承和发展。张九龄对屈原的继承和发展,不仅使自己的品行人格与屈原互见,诗文取得独特的艺术成就,且为王维、李白等人学习楚骚开启了道路,成为诗歌美学史上重要的中介人物。

Qu Yuan had noble moral character and remarkable achievement in poetry, so he had an obvious effect on the men of letters of later generations. Because Zhang Jiuling and Qu Yuan had some similar moral characters and experiences, he, who lived in the early and flourishing period of Tang Dynasty, obviously inherited and developed Qu Yuan's moral character and writing. Zhang Jiuling's inheriting and developing to Qu Yuan could not only perfect his moral character and improve his poetic achievement, but also paved the way to studying and inheriting Chu Ci for Wang Wei and Li Bai. Therefore, he was considered to be a key man in the history of poetic aesthetics.
