The internal and external development of p -aromatic polyamide fiber, particularly poly ( p -phenylene tereph-thalamide) fiber, was introduced from the aspects of fiber varieties, output, properties and advanced composite materials reinforced with this fiber. The necessity and urgency of developing p -aromatic polyamide fiber industry, including home-made aramid fiber Ⅲ, were emphasized. And the research focus and trend were put forward for the surface modification of aramid fiber, resin matrix and reinforced composite materials.
