近年来,关于东北边疆历史问题的研究日益引起学者们的关注,成就斐然,研究领域不断拓展,科研立项纷纷立项并完成,已经成为我国边疆研究不可或缺的重要组成部分。但同时也存在着一些问题,如未能将东北边疆历史研究置于中国边疆研究全局中加以考察、研究力量分散、研究工作易受外界因素干扰等等,在以后的研究工作中应予以加强和改进。
