A comparison of Deng Xiao-ping and Jiang Ze-min's thoughts of science and technology

邓小平和江泽民作为党和国家的领导人,在领导中国社会主义建设中,都形成了自己的科技思想体系,他们的科技思想是中国制定科技政策、推动科技进步、提高国家综合国力的指导思想。但是,由于国家社会发展的程度不同,两代领导人所承担的历史使命各异。邓小平复出后,处在中国的拨乱反正转变观念时期,他承担着如何使科学技术尽快物化为生产力,提高人民生活水平的重要任务。江泽民则是在立足中国国情的基础上,进一步丰富邓小平的科技思想,提出了科教兴国和可持续发展战略。

As leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and the nation, Deng Xiao-ping and Jiang Ze-min propound their own thoughts about science and technology in the course of China's socialism construction. Their thoughts about science and technology had been the guiding ideological system of establishing some policies regarding the development of science and technology. Due to some differences in stages of social development of China and missions undertaken by the two leaders, they had developed some special features respectively. Deng Xiao-ping's main task was to transform science and technology into productive force and to improve people's living standard in the shortest time. Jiang Ze-min enriched Deng Xiao-ping's thoughts by further proposing strategies of developing China with science and education, and sustainable development.
