南北朝中国佛教僧侣的诗学成就,可从两个方面加以考察:一方面,它领导着当时绮靡浓艳的诗风,而且实际上还是当时诗歌声律理论的最早的一批发明者与实践者;另一方面,南北朝中国佛僧侣的诗歌创作,扩展了中国诗歌的固有领域,丰富和发展了中国诗歌的表现技法,在中国诗歌史乃至中国文化史上均具有极为重要的意义。

The poetry achievement and historical position of the Buddhist monks in South & North Dynasty can be analyzed from the following two aspects: first, the poems written by the monks dominated the poetry style of the time which can be described as being rich and gaudy, and the monks were the inventors of the rules governing rhythm of the poems. Secondly, the poetry of the time promoted the development of Chinese poetry, having enriched and developed the manifestation technique.
