Sorrow as Beauty in the Music of Chu State

楚音之源为南音 ,产生于南楚独特的文化土壤之中 ,混融其它音乐文化要素 ,却不失其鲜明的地域文化特性。楚音以悲为美的审美特性 ,与楚地之巫文化有着必然的联系 ,与楚人没有受到儒家实践理性的彻底洗礼 ,较少精神束缚有关 。

The music of Chu State derived from southern music and the special oulture of southern Chu State.It borrowed the cultural components from other music,but retained its own salient regional feature.The music of Chu State takes sorrow as beauty,which is certainly connected with culture.The other reasons are that Chu people were not influenced by confucianist practical rationality and had less spiritual restrictions.It could clearly reflect the cultural character of Chu people.
