A Pragmatic Analysis of YES

对词汇的理解离不开语境。只有根据某一词的客体位置 ,以及说话人 作者和听话人 读者对客体位置的共同认识 ,才能理解该词的全部意义。对 yes这个短小的词的理解也同样受到这一规律的制约。yes在词典释义之外存在诸多语言现象 ,在不同语境存在表肯定、打招呼、轮换会话、做应答、表让步或不耐烦、作惯用语等多种功能。

Listed in this paper are various uses of the word 'yes'. Based on these phenomena we have first discussed the part of speech which the word 'yes' belongs to. We have also tried to identify different meanings of the word beyond the seismic explanations in a dictionary and analyze its functions from our understanding of pragmatics. This will be of great help to the comprehension and translation of the word 'yes'.
