略论《万国公报》的性质

Briefly on the Nature of Wan Kwoh Kung Pao

由美国监理会传教士林乐知创办的《万国公报》是晚清时期一份颇有影响的刊物。其真实性质不能从名称上反映出来,而只有仔细研究其内容,才会发现它是一份以宣传基督教为主旨的刊物。

Wan Kwoh Kung Pao, founded by Young J·Allen, a missionary of American Southern Methodist Church, was a journal which had a wide influence in late Qing Dynasty. Its true nature can not be reflected from its name. Only carefully study its content can we find it is a journal whose main purpose is to propagate Christian.
