The important thought of Three Represents, the foundation of our Party and nation and the source of our strength, is the latest development of Marxism in modern China. This paper analyzes the practical foundation of the important thought, which is a strategic choice made by the Chinese Communists when they are confronted with opportunities and challenges, especially with the severe international challenges. Its theoretical basis is historical materialism.
