In situ hybridization technique is a new technique rapidly developing. In this paper, the basic principles and a few in situ hybridization techniques were reviewd, and the current applications of this technique in aquaculture were described, including gene locallization, sex identification, and virus detection and so on. Opinions on the development of the in situ hybridization technique in the future are put forward.
