In view of the confusion, in recently published autobiographies of SHEN Cong-wen, about the time at which he entered the National Southwest Associated University and his position there, the present paper examines in detail when he entered the university, what position he held there and when he was reappointed as professor, with the help of the original records of the National Southwest Associated University, and the diary of ZHU Zi-qing, the very person who proposed to invite SHEN Cong-wen to the University. The paper also looks at the pressure SHEN suffered when he worked in the university. This paper helps people understand SHEN’s ideas and the change of his literary creation during the anti-Japanese war.
