Deng Xiaoping made enormous contributions to the 20th century Chinese history as a great man standing in the forefront of the century. He restored things to order, sought truth from facts, and established the great cause of reform and opening to the outside world. He advanced the strategy of “developing in three steps” pointing the road of building the modern socialism with Chinese characteristics. His conception of “one country two systems” has laid the foundation for the unification of the motherland. For the first time he systematically answered the questions of what socialism is like and how to build socialism in China. He has brought to light the law governing the socialist construction. His firm communist conviction and boundless loyalty to the people of the country has been the spiritual pillar for the revitalization of the Chinese nation.
