The Analysis of English Sentence Group

在相当长的一段时间内，语言学的研究范围局限在词素、词汇、句子以及词汇和句子表达的意义上，对句以上单位的研究被看作是修辞学、文学研究等领域的事。近年来，西方语言学家越来越重视句以上单位的研究，他们对句子成分、语体、语域、语篇及篇章结构的内部关系进行了系统的研究。然而，仅仅研究句子和篇章之间的关系是不够的。事实上，句子不是构成篇章的直接成分，完整的篇章是由若干句群拼成段落再构造成篇的。本文运用语言学理论对英语句群的结构及其在篇章中的作用进行探讨和研究。

The research of linguistics had been within the limit of morpheme, vocabulary, sentence and the meaning of sentence expression during a long period of time. The study above unit of sentences has been once considered as the problems in the fields of rhetoric and literature. In recent years, Western linguists have been made systematical research on sentence, style, register, text and the internal relationship of text structure. However, it is not enough to do that only on the connection of sentence and text for language study. In fact, perfect articles consist of some paragraphs which are constructed by numbers of sentence groups. This paper mainly analyses the formation and function of English sentence groups in text by using the theory of linguists.
