A New Contribution to the Chinese Rhetoric - A Review of Professor Cao Shizhu's Rhetoric of the Chinese Characters

曹石珠的《汉字修辞学》是我国第一部研究汉字修辞的专著。他对汉字修辞理论作了系统研究,阐明了汉字能否修辞和汉字为什么能够修辞的道理,规范了汉字修辞手段的术语及适应范围,阐述了汉字修辞手段的特点与功能,开拓了汉语修辞的新领域,为汉字修辞学的深入研究奠定了理论基础,是对汉语修辞的新贡献。

Cao Shizhu's Rhetoric of the Chinese Characters is the first work studying the rhetoric means of the Chinese characters. In this work, Professor Cao makes a systematic study of the rhetoric means of the Chinese characters, expatiates why the Chinese characters can be or cannot be modified with rhetoric means. He also standardizes the rhetoric terms of Chinese characters and the range of their application, and describes the features and functions of the rhetoric means of the Chinese characters, opening a new frontier for Chinese character rhetoric, leaving a strong foundation for the further study of Chinese character rhetoric. Rhetoric of the Chinese Characters is a new contribution to the Chinese rhetoric.
