Focus on AAOU

彩球升空、信鸽放飞，面向上海全体市民开放的4．2万平方米的“学习广场”落成，共同奏响了亚洲开放大学协会(AAOU)第18届年会的序曲。来自亚洲及其它各大洲32个国家(地区)的，400余名远程教育专家学者，于2004年11月28日会聚申城，围绕“人人享有优质教育”主题，共议开放大学新的使命与挑战。

Nov 28th, 2004 saw the holding of the 18th AAOU Annual Conference in Shanghai. More than 400 experts and scholars from Asia and 32 countries from other continents were at present and they discussed together about the new missions and challenges facing open universities around the central topic of Quality Education for All. Our correspondent collects their achievements from such sides as the charm of Sir Daniel and UK Open University, Prof. Yang Fujia's points to the key of development of distance education in China, challenges facing the leaders, different way taken by online education other than classic universities, limitless business opportunities for training in enterprises, great potential for mobile learning, setting up new cooperation coalition and continuing struggle on quality education.
