A member of the Chinese Communist Party since his youth, Deng Xiaoping rendered outstanding service to the Chinese people throughout the revolution including the development of the People's Republic and especially in 1980's and 90's when he succeeded in setting China on the road to socialist modernization. He had proved to be far-sighted and persevering, a man of quick understanding and decisive action. The contribution he had made to the revolution and his courage as an innovator earned him the trust of the Chinese people. The collective leadership that he masterfully used ushered China into a new historical period. This paper explores the personality of Deng Xiaoping. Based on some survey of many primary sources, it examines Deng Xiaoping's firm adherence to communism, his deep love for his people, his objective and optimistic attitude, and his generous heart. It offers a new perspective to see his devotion to China's development resulting his great personality.
