A systematic and practical formula for radar detecting of small tragets is derived. The backward scattering coefficient of clutter, the radar pulse-width and the horizontal beam-width, the improvement factor and the effect of a target's scattering RCS on a small one's detecting distance are covered in more detail, which paves the way for the synthesized countermeasure of low altitude small target detection.
