The authors try to apply the theory of critical discourse analysis to discuss the public speech on the'9.11' attack given by American President George Bush from the three different linguistic approaches of description, interpretation and explanation. The purpose is to demonstrate that the choice of language form interacts with ideology in certain language context and to testify the applicable value and validity of the reading method of discourse analysis.
