From Academy to Market: Values of Classifying Higher Education Institutions

摘要 市场力量带来的高等教育系统的多样化导致了高等教育机构分类的出现。目前国内外已有的高等教育机构分类方法和标准以学术性为主要取向,不能充分反映市场力量对高等教育系统的影响,不利于人们正确认识高等教育的属性。高等教育发展过程中政府、市场和学术力量之间错综复杂的关系以及由此给高等教育机构分类带来的影响,是导致高等教育机构分类问题成为世界难题的根本原因。高等教育的协调发展是政府、市场及学术三种力量平衡的结果,一个好的高等教育机构分类标准,不仅要体现高等教育的本质属性,还应该促进高等教育的协调发展。 The systematic diversification of higher education brought about by market power has led to the classifying of higher education institutions. The existent methods and standards of classifying higher education institutions, which regard academic character as the main orientation at present, can not fully reflect how the market power influencing the higher education system and is disadvantageous for people to realize the attribute of higher education correctly. In higher education development process, the intricate relation between governmental, marketable and academic power as well as the influence that the intricate relation brought to the higher education institutions categorized is the basic reason causing the higher education institutions categorized to become the difficult problem in the world. The coordinated development of higher education is the results of balance of governmental, marketable and academic power. A good criterion for classification of higher education institutions should not only reflect the essential attribute of higher education, but also promote the coordinative development of higher education.
