就《雾都孤儿》一书中所揭露的社会犯罪现象而言 ,狄更斯并不是严格按照现实主义所强调的真实性原则来反映的 ,而是从种族主义立场出发 ,认为犹太人“人种”生来就带有恶魔般的品性 ,不应该属于人类文明社会中一员的偏见传统。本文拟就狄更斯在《雾都孤儿》中对犹太人费金的刻画、描写 。

British critical realistic novelist Charles Dickens has been long since regarded as a model who wrote his novels virtually based on the social reality. Yet the crimes he exposed in his novel Oliver Twist are not actually based on the social reality as he claimed to be, but out of his bias of racial discrimination he inherited from the notion of anti-Semitism, according to which ever since ancient Rome, the Jews were born to be an evil people. This essay discusses Dickens' racial discrimination by analyzing his defamatory portrayals of the Jewish characters in Oliver Twist.
