文化语境是研究语言使用和功能的重要语言学范畴之一。由于翻译是跨文化的交际活动 ,因而文化语境对翻译的影响不可忽视。从文化语境与词义的理解及语境制约出发 ,通过对文化语境的分析 ,阐述了文化语境的概念及范畴 ,用例句说明文化语境在翻译实践中的启示和指导意义 ,以及对翻译过程中理解和表达的影响 ,探讨了如何正确翻译词汇并理解其含义。所关注的问题有英语辞典的使用策略 ,词义确定策略 ,语境制约与译文选择。

Context of culture is one of the most important linguistic categories in the study of language use and function. Translation is an activity of communication across the cultures, therefore, it shouldn’t be neglected that context of culture will affect translation. This paper has a discussion on relation the context of culture to translation. Special attention was paied to tactics for understanding as well as interpreting words in the light of culture context. It points out that the choice of words in translation is mainly affected by the cultural context in which the translator was embedded.
