范文澜《文心雕龙注》是此前所有旧注的集大成者,同时又是新时代研究的开山鼻祖。所谓集旧注之大成,主要包括辑校汇注和专题考订两个方面。所谓新时代研究的开山鼻祖,主要是指范注详尽梳理有关资料,努力探寻刘勰《文心雕龙》创作论、批评论、风格论、文体论、文学史论以及重要命题如风骨说、三准说、六观说等理论价值和深邃内涵。这种探索,已经成为20世纪《文心雕龙》研究的新起点。

Fan Wenlan's Notes to Wenxin Diaolong epitomizes all the past notes, which is shown in its proofreading, notes and textual research of special subjects. It is also the pioneer of the study in the new era since it organizes related information in great details, probes into the theoretical value and deep meanings in Liu Xie's theories in Wenxin Diaolong of writing, criticism, style, literary form and literary history and important statements as theories of vigor of style, three standards and six outlooks. This has become a new starting point for the study of Wenxin Diaolong in the 20th century.
