Chen Huan's studies of historical taboo is part of the studies of taboo which is close to rhetoric. The definitions, classifications, approaches and functions of taboo in perspective to historical taboo are overlapping in rhetoric in a certain way. Chen Huan is the first to study the historical development of taboo in China. His studies are contributions to the studies of taboo in rhetoric and even the studies of history of rhetoric as well.
