The 8,13 epi gibberellic acid methyl ester (6) was synthesized from gibberellic acid via 8,13 epi derivative ketone (2). The structures of the intermediates (3) (5) and target compound (6) were determined mainly by their 1H NMR, 13 C NMR, low and high mass spectra. The methyl gibberellate (6) was further confirmed by its single crystal X ray crystallography.
