In this paper, it represents a new technique of designing state observers with the variable structure system method (VSS) for linear time-in-variant systems. The method is different from the conventional one. The advantage of this technique is that the VSS state observer is more robust than the conventional one. It is illustrated with examples and the designing procedure is shown.
