摘要
我国几代前辈学者仅以“自强不息”诠释浮士德精神 ,有意或无意地忽视了“浮士德精神”的另一个重要方面 ,即它丰富深刻的人道主义思想。这虽是历史语境使然 ,并在我国的不同历史时期发挥过积极、进步的作用 ,却仍然不能不说失之于片面。对“浮士德精神”予以重新认识 ,在继续肯定“自强不息”精神的同时也强调其人道主义和仁爱精神 ,不仅具有现实意义 ,还会加深我们对歌德整个思想、创作和立身行事的理解。
Many of the senior scholars in China hold that Fausts spirit means constantly striving to become stronger. Their interpretation, as a result of certain historical context, and in fact having played an active role at different times in the last century, wittingly or unwittingly ignores another key aspect of Fausts spirit, namely, the profound humanistic thought. So their interpretation is one-sided. The present paper points out that humanistic thought is another significant part of Fausts spirit, besides constantly striving to become stronger. This stand gives us a better perspective to understand Goethes thought and writing as well as his life pursuit.
