On the Issues of the Future Option on the China Urbanization Path

中国未来的城市化政策应该有利于打破城乡分割体制的限制,并促进资源和要素按照市场的原则合理地向不同规模等级的城镇集中。中国城镇化应当按照"以市场为导向,大中小为一体,促两头带中间"的战略方针,在结构上,以大城市为龙头,以中等城市为纽带,以小城镇为依托;在数量上,适当发展大城市,积极发展中等城市,大力发展小城镇;在借鉴别国的成功经验的基础上,紧密结合中国的实际,探索出一条具有中国特色的城镇化道路。

It's necessary to review the historical context of China's urbanization and to give a closer look at the trend of world urbanization when we are under the discussion on the path of China's urbanization. The future policies on the urbanization path of China should be helpful to break the confining line between urban area and rural area. And it should be able to let resources and production factors flow freely and reasonably, based on the market principle, to the cities and towns in different degree of scale. China's urbanization should be under the strategic guidance of 'following the market principle, putting the big cities, medium_size cities, and small towns into our consideration as a whole, giving more pushes on both big one and small one to pull medium_size one.' On the framework side, letting the big cities be the 'dragon head', letting the medium_size cities be the connection belt, and letting the small towns be the 'tails'; On the quantity side, appropriately developing big cities, positively developing medium_size cities, and vigorously pushing small towns. Through learning foreign successful experience and studying the reality of China, we should explore an urbanization path with Chinese characteristics.
