Parental education beliefs are the key factors to the quality of parental education. They not only influence the behaviors of parents, but also influence the development of children directly or indirectly. Parents' ideas on the education of mathematics are crucial to the development of children's mathematics ability. This paper provides an in - depth analysis of the studies on parental education beliefs on mathematics in the recent two decades, especially the parental assessment of children's mathematics ability, parental expectations for children's math achievement and parents' perception of the attributions to the development of children' s mathematics ability. We then propose our thoughts on the future direction of the research of parental beliefs on mathematics.
