On Developing Students' Ability to Communicate Cross-culturally

只有具备一定的跨文化交际能力,才能成功地运用第二语言顺利进行交往和交流。因此,在英语教学中 要做到语言和文化教学相结合,让学生多了解中西文化在词义,语用规则及交际风格上的文化差异,既掌握语言知 识,又能通过多种途径和方法培养跨文化交际能力。

Only having the ability to communicate cross-culturally, can one use his second language to contact and communicate with others successfully. Therefore, in the process of English teaching. we should combine language teaching with culture teaching to make students know more about the differences between Chinese culture and western cultures in terms of the meaning of words, the pragmatic rules of language and the styles of communication. Then, students will not only master the language but also develop their ability to communicate cross-culturaly through various ways and methods.
