Zhen Baoyu and Jia Baoyu - A Contrast and Foil of True and False

《红楼梦》中的甄宝玉和贾宝玉是一对思想性格原同后异的人物。他们在少儿时期性情酷似，但到了青年时期却开始分化：甄宝玉投向贵族阶级的怀抱，成为禄蠢；贾宝玉背叛贵族家庭，做了和尚。作品以真假相映、虚实相衬的手法，为我们塑造了这两个对照性的人物形象，展示了封建时代不同文人的人生态度和生存样态，寄寓了作家的爱憎褒贬。

Zhen Baoyu and Jia Baoyu in 'A Dream of Red Mansions' are two figures with the same thought and character. Their temperaments were quite similar when they were young, but they began to split when they became youths. Zhen Baoyu joined the feudal nobles and became a person seeking for high position and handsome salary while Jia Baoyu betrayed his feudal noble family and became a monk. The novel, with the contrast of true and false and the foil of each other, created two contrasting figures before us and showed us the life attitudes and life styles of different intellectuals, expressing the writer's praise and censure as well as love and hate.
