刘禹锡的咏史、怀古之作大致可分两种类型 ,一侧重于表现主观情感 ,一侧重于观照历史兴衰 ;二者都具有反思历史的力度和体察人生的深度 ,而其有机结合 ,更形成一种强烈的批判意识和冲击力量。就艺术表现而言 ,虽自抒怀抱 ,又不露痕迹 ,令人初读 ,俨然咏史 ,细加品味 ,精义方出 ,并于“用意隐然”中带有悲凉沉重的人生感恨。

Liu Yuxi's poems commemorating the past/history can roughly be divided into two categories:those obviously expressing emotions and those recalling hitory.Both are powerful in reflecting on history and observing life.The combination of the two produces a strong sense of lashing criticis.In literary manifestation,these poems reveal the poet's feelings and emotions without any obvious trace so that their essence can not be felt unless read with subtleness and precision.
