This paper analyses the ways David Hawkes and John Minford used in translating names in their version of The Story of the Stone. Hawkes and his co translator succesfully straightened out the very complicated relationships based on age, blood, seniority in the novel by means of using different titles, transliteration and employing French and Latin words.
