鲜明而强烈的节奏，不仅是戏曲表演重要的外部特征，也是它的内在精神。从一般意义说，节奏即为“对比交替的有序结构”，它在戏剧中是一种极富变化和意味的表现形式。戏曲因其贯融的歌舞形态而被赋予尤为鲜明的节奏特征，而戏曲表演节奏的个性则来自于它音乐化、程式化特点。

The distince and strong rhythm is the external characteristic as well as the inner spirit in the performance of the traditional Chinese opera. Generally speaking, the rhythm -- an orderly framework with alternating contrasts -- is a means of expression rich in changes and meaning. The traditional Chinese opera is endowed with the clearcut trait of rhythm for it is expressed in light of the form of singing and dancing. And the individuality of rhythm stems from the musical and stylized nature.
