Tang Xianzu initially mentioned the performance theory of Traditional Chinese Operas in 《Yi Huang Xian Xi Shen Qing Yuan Shi Miao Ji》. He advocated performing a sense of emotional truth, expressed his unique ideas on the training of actors and the top-flight performance art. His dramatic aesthetics directly affected Pan Zhiheng, Yuan Yuling, and Lee Yu.
