源语意图·认知语境·翻译策略———谈关联理论对翻译的启示

Intention of Source Language, Cognitive Context & Translation Tactics——Enlightenments on translation from Relevance Theory

通过对关联理论的研读,结合对翻译实践的思考,得到如下启示:为了达到翻译的交际目的和效果,译者应充分考虑源语作者的意图和译文读者的认知语境,采用适当的翻译策略,使译文具有最佳关联性。分析了源语作者的意图、译文读者的认知语境和翻译策略三者之间的内在联系和相互作用。指出源语意图和译文读者的认知语境共同决定翻译策略的选择和采用。

After studying Relevance Theory and combining it with translation practice, this paper presents the following enlightenments: the translator must take into account both source language author's intention and target language readers' cognitive contexts in the course of translation; translator must apply proper translation tactics flexibly to achieve optimal relevance of translation texts. Meanwhile, this paper analyzes the correlation and interaction between source language author's intention, target language readers' cognitive context and translation tactics, and points out that source language author's intention together with target language readers' cognitive context determine the choice and adoption of translation tactics.
