《新书》《淮南子》等所见西汉前期的墨学流传——“墨学中绝”说的再检讨

The Spread of the Mohism during the Early Days of the Western Han Dynasty as Manifested in Xin Shu, Huai Nan Zi and Other Books:A Re-examination on the Theory of ”the Severance of the Mohism during the Western Han Dynasty”

《新语》、《新书》、《韩诗外传》、《淮南子》等西汉前期人的著述中 ,儒墨并举、孔墨同称 ,说明此时期墨学地位与儒家难分仲伯。西汉前期人十分明了儒墨学说的种种对立 ,说明此时期墨家思想学说依旧在流传。那么清代汪中、孙诒让等人所说的“墨学西汉中绝论”便有失检点 ,可见盲目崇信前人成说的学术态度并不足取。

In Xin Yu, Xin Shu, Han Shi Wai Zhuan, Huai Nan Zi and other such documents, whose authors belonged to the early days of the Western Han Dynasty——we may see the raising of both Confucianism and Mohism. This shows that it was difficult to tell which was more important between these two theories during that period. The authors knew clearly all sorts of antithesis between the two theories. So it shows that Mohism was still in spreading during the Western Han Dynasty. In that case, the theory of ”the severance of Mohism during the Western Han Dynasty” of Wang Zhong, Sun Yi rang and others of the Qing Dynasty is indiscreet. It is obvious that the academic approach of blind worship and believing in the accepted theory of predecessors is inadvisable.
