YANG Xiong, who exerted broad influences upon the literature of the Tang Dynasty, was an eminent man of letters at the end of the Western Han Dynasty. His achievements in literature were affirmed, and his contentment in poverty and absorption in writing Tai Xuan was praised by the scholars of the Tang Dynasty. And his advocating of returning to the ancients, as verifying views in accordance with the sages′ sayings and taking the classics as orthodox, was succeeded by the Classical Prose Movement in the Tang Dynasty.
