美国虽然没有“思想政治教育”这个名词，但美国却以各种名义一直在搞思想政治教育，尤其是“9·11事件”以后，更是有所加强。美国的思想政治教育搞得很有成效，在维护资本主义制度、促进社会的稳定和发展、培养合格的资产阶级接班人等方面发挥了巨大的作用。充分认识美国思想政治教育，并借鉴其成功经验，对于我国在新形式下加强和改进思想政治工作，有着重要的启发作用。
