Physical-Mechanical Properties of Sympodial Bamboo and Influence on Architecture Material Manufacture

摘要 Two kinds of big sympodial bamboo, D.Yunnanicus Hsueh and Whangee (D. Membranaceus Munro) andtheir physical and mechanical properties have been studied in the paper. The results showed that the whangee hasbetter physical properties than that of the Yunnanicus, such as higher density, lower tangential and longitudinal dryshrinkages. That also showed that Whangee has stronger mechanical properties in MOR and MOE, compressivestrength and shear strength parallel to the grain. Compared with some wood species used in architecture, the physicaland mechanical properties of the two kinds have reached the requirement of some wood architecture structurematerials.
