Product and Quality——Norman Foster's Architecture

诺曼·福斯特视建筑为一种产品、一种品质。在回顾其建筑作品的基础上,分析了福斯特建筑的产品、品质特征,提出利用现代技术是实现产品、提升品质的基本途径。并且,福斯特追求产品品质的“产品精神”,也值得我们当代建筑师思考和借鉴。

Norman Foster has considered that'Architecture is a product, a quality'. This paper reviews Norman Foster's architecture in brief and analyses the qualities of it. And then we try to discuss the technical way by which Norman Foster has achieved the qualities of architecture. Showing the rich and colorful by the transparent of glass,the visual quality is represented firstly. Secondly,the functional quality is realized by the space and nature in the light of the technical way. At last.the environmental quality is accessed by showing respect the context of the city and the history. In practice,our contemporary architects should think and learn the product spirit of which Norman Foster has been in pursuit.
