２０世纪中国白话小诗的艺术优势，从形式的角度看，在于行少字少，篇幅短小；从内容的角度看，在于高度集中浓缩。白话小诗仿佛烈性酒或浓缩铀，以质而非以量取胜。从而有效地克服了新诗章句冗长芜杂、意味稀薄浅淡的毛病，提高了新诗的艺术品位。

As to the artistic advantage of the small free verses in the Chinese vernacular of the 20th century, they have much fewer lines and words compared with other kinds of new verses in form and are highly concentrated in content. The small free verses, which seem to be a strong drink or enriched uranium, attract the readers by their quality instead of their amount. Therefore, they have effectively avoided the defects characterized by the new verses-the lengthiness and disorder in the sentences the shallowness and insipidness in meaning. They, as a result, raise the artistic level of the new verses and the popularity within the readers.
