AN IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL STUDY ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF HUMAN CHORIONIC GONADOTROPIN(hCG)AND HUMAN PLACENTAL LACTOGEN(hPL)IN GESTATIONAL TROPHOBLASTIC TUMORS

观察hCG,hPL在15例葡萄胎、17例恶性葡萄胎及15例绒毛膜癌中的分布,证实有中间型滋养细胞。hCG和hPL在IT和ST中的含量随滋养细胞肿瘤的不同而异,ST可能含hCG或hPL,IT主要含hPL,CT不含hCG,也无hPL。

This report presents a preliminary observation of the im- munohistochemical localization of hCG and hPL in 15 cases of hydatidi- form moles,17 cases of invasive moles and 15 cases of choriocarcinoma. An intermediate type of trophoblast(IT)was identified in the gestational trophoblastic tumors.The localization of hCG and hPL in both IT and syncytiotrophoblast(ST)varied with types of trophoblastic tumors. Syncytiotrophoblast sometimes contained both hormones,whereas IT con- tained hPL predominantly.Cytotrophoblast were devoid of hCG and hPL except in choriocarcinoma.The origin of IT and the hormone-producing trophoblast is discussed briefly.Because a large number of IT were observed in the invasive mole,the authors propose that a serologic deter- mination of both hCG and hPL levels may be helpful in differentiating invasive moles from choriocarcinoma.
