中国的近代化经历了一个从物质层面到制度层面,进而到国民素质的提高层面这样一个渐进的过程。五四时期,中国近代化深入到提高国民素质这一层次。中国人的奴性意识、自私意识、封闭意识减弱,自主意识、群体意识、开放意识增强。

The modernization of China underwent a gradual process,from material layer,systematic layer to the layer of improving the quality of the nationals.In the May 4th Movement,the modernization of China went deep into the layer of improving the quality of the nationals.Chinese slavishness-consciousness,selfishness- consciousness,isolation-consciousness gradually weakened,while their independence-consciousness,group-consciousness,openness-consciousness slowly enhanced.
