摘要
谚语是“民族之明镜”,是一个民族智慧的精华所在。英汉谚语有着悠久的发展历史。英汉谚语具有一定的共性:群众性、思想性与艺术性,同时又有各自的特性:民族性和地方色彩。研究英汉谚语的民族特点和文化涵义差异及影响谚语理解的因素,可为英汉语言教学和跨文化交际提供一定便利。
Proverbs are the mirror and the intellectual essence of a nation. Both Chinese and English proverbs have a long evolutionary history. The study of English and Chinese proverbs is aimed at analy-zing their common features ( such as folksiness, instructiveness abd artistry) , and their peculiarities (such as their national characteristics) and through contrast revealing their cultural and connotative differences and factors hindering the comprehension of proverbs, so as to facilitate teaching English and Chinese languages and intercultural communication.
