The manifestations of interpreter subjectivity

口译是一种主体作用于客体的对象性活动。口译活动始终体现译员的主体作用,映射出译员的独特人格、价值取向以及历史存在等主体性因素。本文试从道德自律、译语选择、信息安排以及副语言特征四个方面,探研译员在口译过程中的主体性及其表现,以提高对译员主体性的认识。

Interpreting is an object-oriented activity in which the subject acts on the object with a view to achieving the desired goal. In the process, such subjective factors as individuality and personal values are at work willy-nilly. The paper attempts to analyze interpreter subjectivity manifested in four aspects such as moral self-discipline, choice of words in the target language, arrangement of information and paralinguistic features, aiming to enhance the interpreter’s awareness of subjectivity.
