When environmental protection becomes an industry

环保主义者用了近一个世纪的时间才让世人深刻了解了“环保”这个词,而“环保”只用了30年的时间就为自己冠上了“产业”的头衔。当环保成为产业,世界也因此改变。

At the end of last century, environmental protection, as an industry, was considered as one of the three most promising industries in 21st century. Nowadays, environmental protection has become a leading industry in some developed countries, while in China, it has just finished its embryo development.The industry of environmental protection is related to many different industries and various high-techs. It makes both environmental benefit and economic benefit. Many people have been aware of that and devoted to environmental protection industry. Since a century ago, when the problem of environmental pollution attracted worldwide attention, people have been trying to find the most effective solution. In 1972, OECD established the Polluter Pays Principle, which became the principle for many countries using economic ways to solve environmental pollution. According to this principle, governments, enterprises and individuals all have responsibility to the environmental problems. It is this principle and more and more environmental laws that provide a development space for environmental protection industry. Experts estimate that environmental protection industry in China will have a boom in the next 50 years.
