Effect of 0.5 Hz low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in treating depression

摘要 目的:探讨低频重复经颅磁刺激(repetitivetranscranialmagneticstimula-tion,rTMS)对抑郁症患者的治疗效果,同时观察其治疗的安全性。方法:对20例2002-01/2004-09华中科技大学同济医学院附属协和医院神经内科收治的抑郁症患者予以低频rTMS治疗,以60%最大刺激强度刺激双侧额叶,每侧刺激30次,频率0.5Hz,每日1个序列,连续治疗7d为1个疗程。于治疗前、后观察汉密顿抑郁量表(HAMD)评分变化。结果:低频rTMS治疗后,患者平均HAMD评分为(13.8±7.8)分,而治疗前平均HAMD评分为(26.6±6.0)分,治疗后平均HAMD评分显著降低(P<0.01)。治疗的总有效率为85%(17/20)。结论:低频rTMS对抑郁症患者是一种安全、有效的治疗选择。 AIM:To study the therapeutic effects of low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS) on patients with depression,and observe its reliability at the same time. METHODS:Twenty depressive patients, who were recruited in the neurological department of Union Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2002 to September 2004,were treated with low frequency rTMS,bilateral frontal lobes were stimulated with 60%of the maximum intensity,30 times for each side,and the frequency was 0.5 Hz,one sequence each day for 7 days successively as a course.The changes of scores of Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) were observed before and after the rTMS treatment. RESULTS:After the treatment of low frequency rTMS,the mean HAMD score(13.8±7.8) was significantly decreased as compared with that before treatment(26.6±6.0)(P< 0.01).The total effective rate of low frequency rTMS was 85%(17/20). CONCLUSION:Low frequency rTMS is an effective and safe therapeutic alternative for patients with depression.
